Fishing out of Homer, sea otters are a common sight. They are often seen in groups of a dozen or more, with pups and even in Homer Harbor.

Sea otters are members of the weasel family (Mustelidae) ...the same family as river otters, mink, martins and wolverines ...and believe it or not, skunks. Adult males weigh 70-90 pounds, with some individuals weighing over 100 pounds. Females average 40-60 pounds. Adults may reach a length of 4.5 feet.

Be sure to bring your camera, because you never know when a wildlife photo opportunity will present itself!
